Unedited, Including the Awkward Bits
Collected from customers who agreed to be quoted. We have not trimmed the ones that mention a session ending with no purchase, because those are the ones we are proudest of.
“Four of my eight irons were more than a degree strong and two were bent flat. Nobody had ever put them on a machine in eleven years of me owning them. The bill to fix it was less than one round with a cart.”
“I came in for a driver and left with a regrip on everything and a note that my lob wedge had almost no groove left. Not the upsell I expected — the wedge cost me eight dollars in labour and a promise to stop practising out of the gravel.”
“Drove over from Aiken expecting to spend two thousand dollars. Left having spent ninety-one, with my own irons bent back to where they should have been and a printed sheet telling me to come back in a year. Still slightly annoyed about how well they play now.”
“My gap between the pitching wedge and the fifty-six was thirty-eight yards and I had never noticed. Emmett found it in about four minutes, then spent an hour proving it to me on the turf tray before he would sell me a single wedge.”
“Putter was two inches too long and had been since I bought it off a rack in 2016. Naomi cut it, changed the lie by three degrees and my start line stopped drifting left. I have no idea why nobody checked this before.”
“Dropped the bag off at ten, thirteen clubs regripped and collected by five. Curtis matched the alignment on every one without me asking and charged me the number he quoted on the phone. That is apparently rare and it should not be.”
“They told me my swing was in the middle of a rebuild and I should come back after the winter rather than buy a set now. Cost them a sale, earned them the next one. I brought two friends back in March.”
“The full bag session is three hours and I will be honest, hour two is fairly tedious if you are not interested in numbers. The gapping chart at the end changed how I play four holes at my home course, so I forgave them.”
“Came back after a year for the spec check. Three irons had moved, one of them a full degree. Fixed in twenty minutes, included in the plan, no argument. That is the whole reason I pay for the plan.”
“My son is fourteen and growing an inch a season. Half price on the session and they lengthen his irons for free as he grows. For a junior golf family that is the difference between fitted clubs and hand-me-downs.”
Why We Do Not Publish a Star Average
A single averaged number tells you almost nothing about whether a workshop is right for you. A golfer who wanted a fast retail experience and got a three-hour measuring session may rate us honestly low, and they would be right to. Somebody who wanted exactly that session will rate it high.
So we publish the quotes with the context attached — what they came in for, what they left with, and where they drove from. Read a few and decide whether this is the sort of place you want to spend an afternoon.
If you have been in and want to add yours, or correct one, email the shop. We will publish it as written or not at all.
- Surprise at how far their existing clubs had drifted
- Relief that the session did not end in a hard sell
- Same-day service turnaround mentioned repeatedly
- The written card cited more often than any club we sold
- Complaints, when they come, are about session length
That last one is fair. A full bag specification really is three hours and we would rather you knew before you booked it.
